Competition Juries

OH Sungyun

Animation director. OH Sungyun planned and produced a 1996 theatrical feature animation film Baby Dinosaur Dooly: Ice Planet Adventures and during the 2002 presidential election period, made an animated ad Winter Lyric for the late president ROH Moohyun. Later, in 2011, he directed a feature animation film Leafie, a Hen into the Wild, and received awards from the 5th Asia Pacific Screen Awards and the 44th Sitges Film Festival, among others. The Underdog, which he made this year, was screened as the opening film of the 22nd Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival.

YOON Yongah

Film director/professor. Yoon Yong-ah earned a bachelor’s degree in Film Studies at New York University and a master’s degree in Film Producing at UCLA Graduate School. He made a feature film Land of the Blind and his short film Tool was invited to the 2007 Interfilm Berlin, an international short film festival. Yoon gave lectures in the Department of Film at the Seoul Institute of the Arts from 2003 to 2011, and is now a professor of the Department of Theatre at Sungkyunkwan University.

PARK Hyeonjin

A filmmaker who majored in filmmaking at the Korean National University of Arts. After making her feature debut with Lovers of Six Years (2008), she directed her second feature Like for Likes (2016). She also made web dramas such as Romantic Movement in SEOUL (2010), A Hungry Woman (2013), Prominent Woman (2014), Idol Fever (2017), and Black Cat (To be unveiled). She joined TV drama My Sweet Seoul (2008) as a Team B director and co-wrote another TV show Color of Women (2011).

Preliminary Juries

LIM Chanik

LIM, who was born on Jeju Island in 1973, studied filmmaking at Korea National University of Arts (K-Arts). He made his feature directorial debut with Officer of the Year(2011), which earned him the Paeksang Arts Award for Best New Director in 2012. The latest film he directed is DGK Band(2017).


Film critic. Working as a member of Executive Committee of Seoul Independent Documentary Film & Video Festival (SIDOF), she programmed SIDOF Choice this year. She also was a programmer of Indie Forward of 2018 Indie Forum. Under the title of 『The Way Film Embraces Performance』, she introduced experimental works that explored the frontiers between cinema, sound and choreography. She has been writing stories about independent film in 『Film Busan』, a magazine published by the Busan Film Commission, and has been on the jury for numerous film festivals. In addition, she co-authored 『The Handmaiden Archive Book』 and 『Independent Film, My Star: Meet with 10 Actors and Actresses』.

LEE Youngjae

His major job is making an investment in commercial films as head of Investment Division 1 of a venture capital SOLAIRE Partners and chief investment officer of Sidust FNH. He decided to join the jury panel with a belief that a great movie can come only when there are many young people with different ideas.

PAIK Yeonah

PAIK has directed documentaries for TV and cinema since 2005. Her major work includes Lineage of the Voice (2008), a feature-length documentary about two boy pansori singers, and Bittersweet Joke (2012), a black comedy in which she criticizes contradiction of a male-dominated society by telling a story about single moms. Recently, Baby on the Way Season I & II she has directed since 2015 for the EBS’s international co-production project won the Special Achievement Prize at 2018 Prix Jeunessek. Now, she is making a three-part documentary series Digital Wave (the working title) with broadcasting companies in Norway, Singapore, and India as part of EBS’s another co-production project.

KIM Hyunjung

KIM Hyunjung is a screenwriter and filmmaker based in Daegu. After creating short films such as Eunha Video(2015) and Home without Me(2017), she began directing her latest short film The Stranger(2018). The shooting of the film was wrapped up and it is currently in the post-production stage.
